My little piece of Paradise

Thanks for stopping by my blog :) I'm new to blogging, only started at the beginning of January 2014. In that time I have had a lot of fun participating in various challenges and have been inspired by so many of you. I'm new to card making but enjoy it so much. I've been a scrapbooker for many years and card making seemed like the next logical step:)
I hope you enjoy your visit and feel free to leave me a comment or follow my blog. HUGZ :)

Finished a card

Well I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We spent time with family and I am trying to teach the kids that Christmas is all about being with people you love...hope they get it! So yesterday I started to color an image, I didn't use copics, instead I used my prisma pencils. I wanted to learn how to use my pencils without using any solvents whatsoever so I did a lot of searching and watching YouTube tutorials and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, just takes more time since you are building layers upons layers and switching back and forth between pencils. The other negative is you are using more of your pencil than you would using a solvent...but I really like doing it this way so I think I'll keep practicing with it :) So here is the image that I coloured made into a card. Remember I'm still a beginner lol. Have a great night!

New to copics

So this is the beginning of my Copic journey!!
I have played around a bit with copics before but nothing really turned out for me..... I guess I've been watching too many how to vids on you tube and just got confused by all the different techniques that people use. What I did figure out is that even though a certain way works for some people, it doesn't always work for others.
Fortunately, I have a great sister in law that has amazing talent that has given me some pointers and is teaching me how to color her way which is much easier than the vids I watched.  You can check out her blog at Kerri-thankgodforcolors.blogspot.com
As I have not created any cards yet using copics, it will be interesting to see if I can catch on and improve so stick around this should be interesting :)

On the left is my very first attempt at copics with some prisma pencils thrown in, on the right is the image Kerri was teaching me with...I'm gonna continue working on it and see how it turns out.  Since my Copic collection is limited right now, we will see how it goes :)
